http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10861374/how-to-remove-mysql-completely-with-config-and-library-files aptitude remove, removes the files but no the configs aptitude purge kills files and config NEVER DELTE CONFIGS BY HAND, IF YOU DID use purge to remove all and reinstall.
